Companies are successful when they offer the right product to the right customers at the right time? That's right! And yet there is much more to continuous growth and success: smooth administrative processes, for example, strategic development and an overview of controlling. To ensure this, you need someone to hold all these threads in their hands, especially when internal structures become more complex: The Revenue Operations Manager. At konzepthaus Web Solutions GmbH, this is Christina Rotter. As Revenue Operations Manager, she is responsible for strategy optimization, administrative office tasks and controlling, for example for company targets.

Christina Rotter works at the company headquarters in Hennef near Bonn and has been coordinating the accounting, human resources and controlling departments in the office team for around two years. A lot has changed in the internal processes since then. Christina describes her day-to-day work as "constantly alternating between the small tasks of day-to-day business and taking a bird's eye view to see the big picture. That's what makes my work so exciting and very varied. What's more, numbers are
are my world."

What comprises the little things of day-to-day business?

Christina: "A colorful mix! It ranges from checking recorded working hours and preparing employment contracts to proofreading quotations and preparing invoices. Invoicing is often a very time-consuming task because transparency is extremely important to us. Firstly, this means that we issue invoices in detail. We check whether the services are comprehensible for the customer. Secondly, we invoice the individual projects on a monthly basis.

My administrative tasks also include creating the projects in the administration when deals are closed so that my colleagues can continue working on them. They need templates in time recording and in the project management tool. Draft invoices are also required, which we then complete with the relevant data. We work here across teams in close cooperation with the project managers. Our ticket system is also used for this, which I use to assign tasks such as budget planning or the monthly review of working hours. Controlling also falls within my remit: what have we planned in a project, what has been completed, what are we invoicing, where are there discrepancies between planning and execution?

I also keep an eye on the projects as a whole in connection with the company's objectives. There are currently around a hundred of them. How high are the respective total budgets for the duration, what turnover can we expect in the coming months? We are constantly gathering experience in order to make our planning more and more granular.

How do you work strategically from a bird's eye view?

Christina: "At the beginning of the year, for example, I spent a week with the konzepthaus managing directors Thorsten Heissel and Monika Wisser working on the following questions: What goals do we have for the coming year?, What should our operating result look like in terms of turnover, major projects, new customers?, What do we need to achieve this? However, this is not the end of the story; we also carry out quarterly comparisons: where do we stand in relation to our annual target, and in detail in this quarter?

Evaluations and statistics help us to verify assumptions with figures and adequately assess the effects. Particularly in the areas of sales and personnel, it is essential to see which projects are coming our way and to what extent, and to make the corresponding personnel resources available. I keep asking myself where we can improve in the administrative area. When I started at konzepthaus, the first step was to simplify billing by establishing a ticket system. We are currently working on the standardized evaluation of projects afterwards. What went well in terms of administration or organization, what can be optimized? - We want to achieve a targeted review here. And this is something I particularly appreciate at konzepthaus: sensible suggestions for improvement are accepted and implemented. We really drive internal process optimization forward!"

The konzepthaus working day of the Revenue Operations Manager in a nutshell!

Christina: "Getting an overview - checking invoices - checking projects - completing personnel tasks - updating calendars. The challenge is not the multitude of tasks, but to give all sub-areas the same focus! Only then can I really manage to keep the strings in the background so that I can exploit the full potential of Revenue Operations Management!"

What is it really like to work over 500km away from the main office?

Christina: "Honestly? The way the team spirit is practiced at konzepthaus, no problem. We have two fixed office days for the team in Hennef in a coworking space and I spend four to five weeks a year in the office in Sonthofen. Whether on site or remotely - at konzepthaus we work together across teams and get things done.

The konzepthaus team is very informal and the atmosphere is great. In addition to the agile concept that konzepthaus implements, this makes me feel completely at home here."
