konzepthaus Web Solutions didn't either until recently. It was only with our trainee and current apprentice Sebastian made us aware of it.

What are Sebastian's impressions after six months of training?

Sebastian, why did you choose this training path at konzepthaus Web Solutions?

I started out as an intern at konzepthaus in Sonthofen, but I didn't know exactly which apprenticeship I wanted to do. I find digitalization and IT super exciting, but going purely into software development? That wasn't the right thing for me. In the end, the IHK training advisory service helped me: they suggested the apprenticeship as a digitalization management assistant.

Staying at konzepthaus was not even a question for me. During my internship, I was impressed by the working atmosphere and the dynamism in the team, the motivation here practically jumped over to me. That's why I was so pleased that Thorsten and Monika, the two managing partners, were open to getting to know this apprenticeship with me. And so I am now the first trainee at konzepthaus to become a digitalization management assistant.

What does a day at the company look like for you, for example today?

I had a Java course online in the morning. I'm currently learning programming. So far, the focus has been on data structures. And I've been familiarizing myself with HubSpot for a long time. konzepthaus is a HubSpot Elite Partner. This software is an all-in-one solution that combines marketing, sales and customer service. This simplifies business processes enormously. I also realize projects in a team, discuss codes together, learn how to create designs and develop workflows. For example, after a short briefing, I often implement the module for a customer order again on a different portal. This can take one to two weeks, depending on how complex the task is. I largely decide for myself how to structure my day.

What do you find the biggest challenge?

To be honest, acquiring hard skills. In other words, the technical skills you need to work better in a team or to help customers progress. I find that challenging. You really need stamina here. And I have to admit that I thought smaller programming tasks would be quicker to learn. But it's so incredibly complex and abstract. I'm totally impressed by what the developers here at the company achieve every day.

Do you have a role model at konzepthaus?

Thorsten (Thorsten Heissel is Managing Partner). He comes up with the system architecture in just a few minutes in discussions with customers. This speed and his ideas impress me.

Sebastian, what tips do you have for future trainees?

Be flexible! Set yourself goals and pursue them! Then you will definitely make good progress.

And for newcomers to konzepthaus in particular?

You don't need any tips for beginners. The konzepthaus team welcomes you from day one. You'll get on well here. (Sebastian laughs) Just always listen to Sarah. (Sarah Pantenburg is a personnel manager at konzepthaus.)

Sarah, what would you recommend to prospective employees?
Flexibility and agility are important to us! Bring an interest in all things digital and the ability to think logically. It's good to realize that you want to learn a complex profession. You need motivation and the drive to succeed. But don't worry, the konzepthaus team will be happy to support you if things get difficult.

And by the way ...

Training to become a digitalization management assistant takes three years. It takes place alternately at the vocational school (in Sebastian's case in Kempten) and at the training company. The first year of vocational school is spent with students from other IT professions to learn the general basics. This is followed by specific lessons.

Once you have completed your apprenticeship, there are countless opportunities open to you: Companies from a wide range of industries need your skills. But you can also work in the public sector.
